Dr. Wheeler is a clinical psychologist with specialty training in forensic psychology. She obtained her Ph.D. in clinical psychology in 2002 from the University of Washington.
Dr. Wheeler's clinical and forensic experience includes working with adult and juvenile populations in several Washington State agencies and facilities, including the Juvenile Rehabilitation Administration, Department of Corrections, Child Study and Treatment Center, Western State Hospital, Department of Health, and the Special Commitment Center.
Dr. Wheeler has conducted original research in academic and applied settings and has co-authored numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals and book chapters.
Currently Dr. Wheeler is engaged in full-time private practice in Seattle, WA, where she conducts individual, group, and couple therapy, serving both adult and juvenile populations.
In addition to providing treatment services, Dr. Wheeler also performs forensic psychological evaluations of adults and juveniles for a variety of criminal and civil contexts, including:
- Psychosexual evaluations
- Child custody evaluations
- Personal injury evaluations
- Competency to stand trial
- Mental state at the time of the offense
Dr. Wheeler is available to provide professional consultation, as well as professional trainings, workshops, and seminars, on a variety of topics, such as sexual offense behavior, forensic psychological evaluations, ethics, and cognitive-behavioral therapy.
